Outcomes for Operate and maintain a four wheel drive vehicle course include:

• performing pre operational vehicle checks
• applying safe vehicle loading practices
• changing a wheel on a 4WD vehicle sited on uneven ground
• stall/key start recovery downhill forward and reverse
• implementing minimal environmental impact practices
• operating a 4WD vehicle competently in off-highway conditions, including:
• up and down steep inclines
• correct range, gears and techniques
• through muddy terrain and ditches
• across side slope involving irregular terrain
• irregular sandy terrain
• through water and along dry and wet dirt roads.
• using a single snatch strap to recover a vehicle
• operating a 4WD vehicle giving due regard to Workplace Health and Safety issues
• knowledge and skills required to use a 4WD vehicle with due regard to environmental issues

Outcomes for Operate light vehicle course include:

• accessing, interpreting and applying light vehicle operations documentation and ensure the work
• planning vehicle operation considering work activity, travel duration, passengers and equipment safety activity is compliant
• selecting and loading equipment and/or ancillary attachments
• identifying, addressing and reporting potential hazards and risks
• selecting and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment for planned work activities
• identifying, addressing and reporting environmental issues
• operating equipment within recommended speed, engine capability and limitations
• using vehicle lights and indicators in accordance with traffic regulations
• identifying and responding appropriately to hazardous and/or emergency driving situations
• completing light vehicle operations according to work plan
• conducting routine visual inspections to identify faults and carrying out minor maintenance and repairs
• reporting defective or irregular performance

• Connect your trailer to your vehicle for optimal safety.
• Spot potential problems before they derail your journey.
• Drive – forward and reverse – with a trailer.
• Tow a trailer safely in traffic and the open road.
• Decouple and park your trailer appropriately.
